ONE WORLD DRIVEN INTO MADNESS , madness driven by the depths below Williams, Katherine R. NINETEEN FEMALE STRAIGHT KAT, KATE SOPHOMORE SLYTHERIN MUGGLEBORN GOOD MAGIZOOLOGY MAJOR, MAGICAL REMEDIES MINOR 10 INCHES, SUPPLE, PINE, PHOENIX FEATHER ONE LIE TELLS A THOUSAND STORIES , the greatest stories that were ever told APPEARANCE 5'7" 124LBS PALE DARK BROWN MEDIUM-LONG BLUE-GREEN SLENDER PUNK/GRUNGE standing at five foot seven, and often with a scowl, katherine can appear quite intimidating. she doesn't look like the sort of person kids would approach or parents would entrust their kids with. she has a slender body and weirdly pale skin that her dark hair only emphasizes. her nose and mouth are small, though she has fully, plump lips. contrasting the rest of her face, her eyes are large and round, giving off an innocent look for just a moment. framed by long, dark, defined eyebrows are blue-green irises that appear to change colors in different light. her hair, naturally a medium brown, is slightly curly. she will often exaggerate her hair, curling or straightening it further. kate dyes her hair frequently, always darker, sometimes even as dark as pure black. occasionally she will put some color in her hair, such as blue and green highlights beneath her hair. she tends to dress in a punk or grunge style, something that is rather popular in muggle culture. she has no problem wearing muggle clothes because, after all, that's what she grew up as. she looks good in the color black and loves rips, studs, and metal. she dislikes skirts, favoring pants instead, but will occasionally wear a dress. she loves wearing jewelry and makeup. red lips and dark eyes is her signature look. she has a jagged scar in the crook of her elbow from the time she got her arm caught on a screw - an injury that hurt like hell. she has a few tattoos which are generally hidden by her clothing. on her upper back, on the right side, she has the tattoo of a large black bird with its wings spread and cracked into the pattern of a tree. she has a tattoo of an owl on her right side, more stylistic than the tattoo on her back, created from geometric shapes. on her wrist, she has a very small tattoo of a feather. ONE MAN CAN PREDICT THE FUTURE , a future journey into outer space PERSONALITY |
more than anything, katherine wants to prove once again to the wizarding world that muggleborns are just as powerful as anyone else, if not more so. she knows this has already been made known, but it can't help to show them again, especially when in slytherin. just below that in importance is her desire to become a world-known (or at least brilliant) magizoologist. she would love to work specifically with dragons as a dragonologist, because they're one of her favorite creatures.
she isn't afraid of anything more than failure. the thought of failing at everything she's worked for horrifies her. kate is afraid that if she fails and falls hard enough, she won't be able to get back up. there isn't much else she's afraid of; she loves all animals (she will, of course, be afraid for her life if a beast comes running at her) and doesn't mind insects or reptiles. a deep part of her is probably afraid of losing her few close friends and being totally alone, but that isn't something she's totally aware of.

katherine has always been rebellious. as a child, she often went against what her parents said (which would annoy them to no end) and would break the rules experimentally. she was a cunning little kid, always testing the waters to see how far she could go. intelligent and resourceful, kate can often quite easily get her way. she's manipulative and enjoys getting people to do what she wants. she loves causing chaos and confusion everywhere she goes. kate also enjoys pranks - but what she likes most about them is getting away with it. she's a naturally tricky person and loves the thrill of getting away with such things. generally, her pranks aren't terribly insane, but they're enough to where she could get in trouble if caught. katherine is a natural leader; she can't stand being ordered around told what to do. it's probably what caused her rebellious attitude.
although it doesn't quite fit her, given her personality, katherine is capable of respect. she isn't completely against authority; she respects those who she believes deserve it. she also doesn't want to get kicked out of hogwarts, so she keeps her mouth shut when she needs to. kate is sarcastic, snarky, and stubborn. her sarcasm is sort of like a natural defense, often in response to insults or stupid statements. she has a sharp tongue and short temper. she rarely gives up on anything. katherine is very confident with herself and her magic. despite seeming like a total bitch, katherine has her good moments. she has a good humor and loves jokes. on top of that, once she makes friends, she is incredibly loyal. she might be hard to get along with, but with her friends, she means well. however, she occasionally struggles between loyalty to her friends and the need for self-preservation, a trait that is visible in every slytherin. she wants to stay true to her friends, but she's also interested in getting the best for herself. it can certainly be a battle.
one thing she hates more than anything are pureblood supremacists. it's difficult being a muggleborn in slytherin. while she belongs that house much more than any other, some slytherins don't seem to think the same. while it definitely isn't as bad now as it would have been in the past, occasionally it can be hell. those who are dumb enough to mock, insult, or anything of the like will surely get a terrible backlash. she is not kind to those that try to bully her. a small part of her knows that had she been born a pureblood, it likely would have been her insulting the muggleborn. and that is not something she is proud of.

ONE WORD BREAKS THE CODE OF SILENCE ,
silence tells me all i need to know
HISTORY
charles and dakota were only nineteen when they got married, and just twenty-one when they decided to start a family. charles had a very well-paying job in his father's business and was due to inherit it all when his father retired. they lived in a fairly wealthy part of london - not an insanely wealthy area, but it was better than the average middle class family's home. the couple was overjoyed when they discovered they were having twins and immediately began to set up a nursery for their twin daughters. however, dakota went into labor five weeks early. the premature labor resulted in the death of one of their children. the other child seemed to be perfectly fine, but both dakota and the baby had to stay in the hospital until their conditions were stable. originally, the couple had picked out the names katherine and rosalie for their girls. with one dead, they decided to name their daughter katherine rose, in memory of the one they lost. despite the sad beginning, charles and dakota loved their daughter more than anything and treated her like a princess. katherine ended up being a very intelligent, cunning little girl. she loved animals and fell in love with the williams' cat, which resulted in her nickname kat. later, people would begin calling her kate as well. she's never really had a preference either nickname; she's always answered to both.
katherine grew up with stories of wizards and witches, stories different from the classic princess fairy tales little girls loved. while she did love the princess stories, she had always preferred those of witches. her father always talked about how his great grandmother told him these stories. later on, katherine would realize that it was very likely her father's great grandmother - her great-great granmother - was a squib, cast out into the muggle world. as a little girl, kate loved pretending to be a witch. of course, this didn't always sit well with the other girls her age, who preferred being princesses and ballerinas. she was often teased and mocked, and "witch" eventually became a negative term that katherine wanted nothing to do with. she would often result to violence toward the girls who insulted her.
when she was about six years old, kate got into a terrible argument with her parents. they were upset with how violent she was - understandably - and she was upset that she was getting in trouble. she started screaming and shattered the plates and glasses at the dinner table. her parents were terrified, but wrote it off as kat simply having a terrible temper and high-pitched scream. they couldn't ignore the next time something odd happened, however. less than a year later, kate was reading matilda and decided she wanted to be able to do the same. she tried levitating her book, and much to her surprise, it worked. she yelled for her parents excitedly, and told them to look at what she'd learned to do. charles tried grabbing at the strings which held the book afloat, but there was absolutely nothing there. it was about that time that the family really started to believe in magic. scared of what could happen at school, they began to homeschool kate and got her a tutor. she continued doing odd things, distressing her parents, and causing chaos with the neighbors' kids. then she got the letter at eleven. at first, her parents didn't believe it. they thought it was a joke from someone who'd realized what kate had been doing. against her parents' wishes, she replied to the letter, desperately hoping it was true. later, a representative from the school came to help her get supplies...katherine's parents now had to accept what was going on. after a teary goodbye, katherine left to buy supplies. suddenly entering the wizarding world was a culture shock; kate had no idea what was going on...but she loved it. she bought a beautiful snowy owl, already halfway through its life, and proceeded in getting the rest of her necessary supplies.
she was sorted into slytherin, surprisingly as a muggleborn, and had absolutely no doubts about it. it was the only house she belonged in. she refused to listen to crude remarks about her muggleborn status, and eventually made a name for herself. most people stopped insulting her, but there's still the occasional idiot who decided to try it. she went through school with amazing grades; she fit into hogwarts seamlessly. her best classes were those dealing with animals and plants, but only because it was what she was most passionate about. she performed amazingly in her other classes as well. eventually she graduated and decided to continue to hogwarts university to study magizoology, with magical remedies as her major. her owl had died shortly before ending her seventh year. kate was upset over her pet's death, but decided to buy a new owl for university. she ended up with a beautiful, mysterious barn owl which she named nyx. she's just started her second year at hogwarts university.
