He's tall and he's built like a brick house. Because of his height he doesn't look overly muscle-y but he hardly looks scrawny either. It's clear to anyone with eyes that he's a guy who likes to work out. He keeps his hair pretty long but it's always kept neat and trimmed and he is usually always clean shaven. His dress style is casual / trendy. He dresses in whatever he feels comfortable in, usually jeans, a t-shirt and some boots. He does make extra effort for events he might attend by sporting a suit, but he isn't a big fan of them Bright colors aren't his style, you'll never ever catch him in anything pink or anything with a floral pattern. He likes to keep things simple so he never wears any jewelry or accessories other than his watch or whatever else he needs for work. Jace Blackwood is often referred to as a dick. Why? Because he's a dick. At least, that's what he'd have you believe. He comes across arrogant, selfish to the point that he often comes across as a heartless asshole, and crude. Why? Because nobody wants to be friends with an asshole and in his experience, pretending to be a jerk is the perfect way to stop people trying to pry their way into his life. Truth is, Jace doesn't want to give a shit about anybody but Jace. He's a loner and that's just the way he likes it. Being on his own, not having to worry about anybody but himself means that he can do whatever he wants, whenever he wants and he doesn't have to worry about the consequences or who he hurts along the way.

Of course, in his line of work, being a dick doesn't always help. So if he needs to pretend to be something he's not to get what he wants, then he will. Jace is a chameleon, a manipulator and a grade A bullshitter. If he needs to be a charmer then he'll be a charmer. If he needs to be the sweet guy then that's the mask he wears. He'll be your best friend, your lover, your confidant, he'll be like a brother to you but it doesn't mean anything to him as long as he's achieving his goals.

But just because he'd rather keep people at a distance with some assholish behaviour doesn't mean he's a bad guy. In fact, he's a pretty decent guy, once you get by his selfish tendencies - (which aren't so much of an act) and the fact that he can be an arrogant and cocky bastard. He can be kind, or at least his version of it. Jace often thinks of himself as emotionally damaged. He does have the capacity to care for other people, it's just that he's had himself on lock down for so long that he literally doesn't know how to open up and show his more vulnerable side.

HISTORY

Johnathan Michael Blackwood was the result of an affair. Anthony Blackwood had been engaged to be married through a family arrangement, but had been wildly in love with Jace's mother, Sarah, a muggle born witch. Of course Anthony's parents would never let him be with Sarah, she was a waitress with no money to her name and already had a child with another man, Jace's older brother Julian. Having their son marry this woman would tarnish their families reputation and image. They gave Anthony an ultimatum; Sarah and a life with nothing, or, his family name and a life of wealth and fortune. He chose his family. Seven months later, Jace was born. Unbeknownst to his family, Anthony came to the hospital, offering Sarah an envelope full of cash to help raise their son. She refused it on principle and that was the first and last time Jace was ever held by his father.

Growing up, Jace, his brother and his mother didn’t have much but they managed to get by just fine. He lived a normal, average life in the muggle world (he'd later learn that his mother had left the wizarding world behind her after having her heartbroken.) He did well in school, he played with his friends, he fought with his brother and he helped his mother with the groceries - It was a very simple life but he had been happy. And then his mother fell sick with cancer and suddenly his life wasn’t so simple anymore. He was eight years old when his mum passed away. Jace and Julian had been close with their mum and losing her hit them both hard. It was the hardest thing he’s ever had to go through. He swears to this day that when she died, he lost a part of himself. With no family to take them in, Jace and Julian were placed into the foster care system where the brothers had to fight to stay together. Couples often showed interest in Jace, because he was the youngest and they didn't want a trouble making teenager like Julian to take care of. But on the days they came to see him, Jace would act out and misbehave so bad that they'd think twice about wanting to adopt him. It worked for a good year and a half before the Orphanage decided to separate the brothers "for their own good." Julian had been moved to another orphanage in another city before Jace really knew what was happening.

Without his brother to turn to and rely on he retreated into himself - becoming closed off and guarded. He was constantly getting himself into trouble, getting into fights with other kids and attempting to run away at every chance he got. The only thing that was on his mind was escaping and tracking down Julian - he was the only family he had. At least, that's what he believed until his father showed up. He didn’t know much about his dad, just the pieces of information his mother had told him when she’d been alive, which hadn’t been much. It didn’t matter though; the only thing Jace knew was that this man had abandoned his mother. He hated him. But as Anthony was his biological father, and because the Orphanage couldn't wait to be rid of him, Jace was handed over into his care.

This is a very interesting story I can understand why a man can sometimes shut off his emotions and feel the way he does considering the things that he has been through. I can certainly feel and understand those feelings myself. Maybe I will post my own however I feel mine will be much different. Rather you write from fact or fiction I enjoyed reading so thanks for sharing.
